I'm Back!!

Boy oh Boy, I'm a terrible blogger. I do however, want to get better and would like to make it more a habit. Yes, I'm a new mom and have little time to myself but, truth be told I can make time for this I just haven't. Call it laziness, that is likely what it is, ha! Oh well.  Anywho, I plan to get better, I have many things that I feel will keep me accountable. First, I have taken a keen interest in pinterest and will be doing one pinterest thing a week. Which could include a HPOW or anything else I find on pinterest that I want to try. Second, I'm going to do this photo a day challenge. Every month I send my grandparents and parents and email to update about our baby girl and for her 3 months I had 4 pictures. 4! Apparently, I get so wrapped up in enjoying the moments, which is by no means a bad thing, that I forget to document them, oops! So hopefully this photo a day will encourage me to take a picture per day of our girl. Truly, a pic per day when we have digital...

Last Day

Image
April 19th, two weeks ago today I went in and handed a letter to my supervisor at work that stated, my new job title and it wasn't RN. It was MOMMY!! This goodbye is bittersweet, though, work was a struggle for me I had grown to like and enjoy most of the people I worked with and I will miss them. On the other hand, I was extremely disappointed with how much modern obstetrics man-handled laboring women. I was also astounded by how many women complain so much to their doctor in order to be induced. I'm sorry but now I can say it, I have been pregnant before and I realize I was a rare breed that never got tired of being pregnant but even if I had I know that the best thing for my baby is to wait for him/her to come on their own and hearing and taking care of women who constantly were thinking more about how uncomfortable they were and less about what is best for their baby got very emotionally taxing and I won't miss that part of my job. A small part of me is also sli...

Three Months

Image
So wow, our girl is three months old, slow down little girl! She's getting so big. We haven't had another appointment yet (not until 4 months) but we're guessing she weighs like 14 lbs. She's our little chunk. She still continues to eat every 1-1.5 hr in the day time, however, when she goes to bed she sleeps anywhere from 5-7 hrs. She's getting so much more expressive it's so fun to watch her grow. She smiles all the time now. At 9 weeks she began drooling like crazy and now at 14 weeks she is nawing on everything, we'll see if some teethe are on their way. She is beginning to grab at things and put them in her mouth. Life has been a lot more exciting since we began taking her out. Lessons learned, she's easily overstimulated. We've learned when out, to eat fast and have the check ready in case she starts screaming inconsolably, which has only happened once ;). I know it's only been three months but Maggie is so apart of our family w...

Thoughts on Motherhood

Image
Let's see if I can put my thoughts into words. So, like many new moms, I fell right into the performance trap. I wanted to do everything just right. Then finally, I am beginning to realize "right" is different for everybody. What might work for one momma doesn't work for another. In the first few weeks, I found myself scared nervous and unsure of what I had just gotten myself into. I guess in ways I thought baby would come and I would be perfect at everything, ha! What a joke. So, Maggie was about 2.5 weeks old and I began to worry. I was still struggling with some baby blues and I had been told that if baby blues last beyond 2 weeks to call the provider because it could be post partum depression, which the idea of that struck fear in my heart. I cried out to God for mercy. I was so confused and conflicted. I expected my heart to instantly change the moment Maggie was born and it didn't. I expected to feel this instantaneous bond with her and truth be told, it d...

Two Months

Image
Two months already! Man time is going fast. Well, I sure made this day memorable. With Maggie, reaching the 2 month mark, it's now safe to take her out and I did. Yup, I somehow managed to leave my phone on top of my car and it went flying into oncoming traffic and is now in a million pieces, oops... We did have a good day overall though. We got Maggie some clothes, so fun! Can't wait to dress her up! Maggie does new and exciting things all the time. Her 2nd month has been quite eventful. At 5 weeks she rolled over during tummy time. She also got her first cold/cough, poor baby. At 6 weeks she started smirking. At 7 weeks she started having real tears.  :( At 8 weeks she smiles really big and daily. Warms my mommy heart, I love it! She also has hints of laughter. Tonight we had her 2 month appt, she weighs 12lbs 13oz. She's growing healthy and strong and we're so grateful! She also got three shots, we both cried. She was okay until we got home then she absolutely ...

My Cloth Diaper Solution

Okay everybody,  It's been a week of cloth diapering and though I'm getting the hang of it, I'm disgusted by the stains on the diapers of poop. I know it's clean but it looks so dirty from the stains. Again I sought the advice of my SIL. She informed me that I should be washing the prefolds as well as the covers after every poopy diaper. UGH! I had not been doing that and was hoping I wouldn't have to do that until she started on solids in a few months. So I set out to do what she did to see if I could get my diapers clean. about two days in, I was thinking, if this is what it takes, maybe I don't want to do cloth diapering. I know what a baby huh?  Anywho, I wasn't quite ready to give up so I went to google. All the blogs I read on google said that breastfed poops are water soluble and should come right out. Yeah right! None of my daughters poop stains came out in the wash, they simply stained.  Finally, I came across a blog that said to use white vinega...

7 Weeks and garden update

Image
Our Maggie is 7 weeks! She's so smiley in the mornings, it's awesome! So far, it's nothing we do she just sometimes smile and I drink every single grin in. I have yet to catch one on camera, but I am trying. Also new this week is when she gets really upset she has real tears, it rips my heart apart. I've been praying for strength because I know someday I'll have to discipline her and I can't let her tears get to me too much, but for now I try to quickly stop the tears. Some good news on the garden front is my plants are growing like weeds, ha! My beans all germinated and I had WAY too many so I had to thin them. So far though, everything is looking great and I look forward to seeing if flowers start to form on my tomato plants. Here are some pics... Early girl- indeterminate Roma tomato Lettuce Cherry Tomato
