Nursery Ideas :)

Hey Everyone,

So, I know we're only 19 weeks but I have been exploring ideas for a nursery, what first time mom wouldn't ;). Anyway, as you all know, we are choosing to let this little one tell us if he/she is a boy or girl when baby welcomes us in about 4 months :) That being said, I'm a little too picky to do a neutral room. I think neutral in general looks boyish and if we have a girl I want it to be girly enough. I know I'm high maintenance :/.

On the flip side, I'm very excited about what I have found, thus far and this could change, I'm liking jungle for either or. For the boy set, I've found wonderful coordinating fabrics at Walmart no less, so that set I can pretty much make on my own and I will journal that journey for you all to see. For a girl, I have found a set for a really low price that I will purchase and possibly keep for the next baby or return it if we have a boy  :)

I so wish I could find fabrics for a girl because I would love to make them both but I have searched and searched to no avail. Unfortunately, I'm just not creative enough or an experienced seamstress to do my own blanket with appliques for a girl that I know I would be happy with. I do plan to make reversible fabric bins for under the changing table, as well as burp cloths, receiving blankets and many other baby patterns I've found online  :) Stay tuned to see the progress, that is all for now, until next time ;).

What a great idea to plan for either gender so that you don't have to do a neutral nursery. I look forward to seeing your creations! You can't go wrong with animals. So cute... and kids really enjoy recognizing the animals as they get older and learn their names. I did Micah's room in jungle animals, and I still love it.

Homemade Boppy Pillow

Okay, so for those of you who have looked at my registry, I did register for a boppy pillow but I also wanted to make one myself. I used material from an old cotton sheet we don't use anymore and can't help but wonder if store bought is better than homemade when it comes to this. Anywho, I figure if my pillow is just as good as store bought the registry one can always be returned and if my homemade one fails then I have a genuine boppy as well. Here goes nothing.... I printed out the pattern on the computer and had to tape the pattern together to make this. I got the pattern  here Fold your fabric, or sheet, in half, place pattern along folded side and cut two of the pattern out. Pin the two pieces together with RIGHT sides facing each other. Sew around edges, leaving opening for stuffing, I left my opening right in the middle but you can do whatever you want. Second Week, First Run and Spinach/Chicken Calzone

Ran yesterday, plan this week is to run 3 miles first two runs then 3.5 last run of the week. Nothing too interesting, ran 3 miles, went slowly at 5.6, went hiking with the hubby on Saturday with some decent pain in my knees and wanted to take it slow in case I was sore or something. Had pain all down my right side towards the end and after, not sure what to think of that. I have a known hip injury that flares up sometimes on my right side, we'll have to wait and see what happens. Plan for dinner tonight was spinach and chicken calzone. In and effort to be more healthy, I made the calzone crust with whole wheat. Easy recipe from eatingwell.com, whole wheat flour, yeast, H2O, honey and salt. Quickly threw this together then let it rise twice, very simple. For the filling the original recipe calls for cooking the chicken in the frying pain with a little EVOO.
