Day 3

Hello all, Did my 3rd day yesterday morning and I'm proud to say that I've met my goal's everyday this week. Not only have I always made it to 2.25-2.3 miles, I've increased my sprint at the end starting at a 45 sec sprint to now a 90 sec sprint. I know these are not big deals but they are my personal goals and I'm very encouraged that I've met them. :) Yesterday ran 2.35 miles, running speed between 5.7-5.8, it was decently challenging. Is running an addictive type of activity? I'm finding myself hoping I can run tomorrow before we leave for California...am I an addict? hehe :p Anyhow, I will be leaving for my first yoga class in about an hour. :) Until next time.

Day 2 and Slow Cooker

Due to my intermediate fetal monitoring class today, I got up leisurely at 545, then went for my run. I forgot my little sticky note of my plan for today so I improvised. I remembered to run 1/4, walk 1/8, run 1/2, then forgot the rest so I walked for .10 then ran the rest of the way, maybe a little premature but I happen to know I'll have to run a whole mile at some point next week so I thought I'd try it out today. Anyway, total miles was 2.3, increased my running speed to no less than 5.7, woot woot! I ran just short of a whole mile right at the end and it was challenging. I think tomorrow I''ll remember my sticky note that has my plan on it so I don't get ahead of myself or worse injured from trying to do too much. Slow Cooker Okay, in an effort to not use the oven this summer, since it heats up the apartment so much, I've been trying to use the George Foreman and the crock pot more often. Randomly 15 minutes before I had to leave for my class I decided to d

4th Week Take 3

Ugh, okay, so I am doing the 4th one over again, simply because I'm not meeting my personal goals with time and distance so I will do this week one more time and hopefully be able to make it. Ran this morning. I'm really beginning to like these 5am runs, who is this Anna?? Anyway, ran 2.25 miles, running speed between 5.7-6.5. Found it challenging for sure. Will run again on Wednesday and Thursday morning, hopefully, successfully ending my 4th week on a high note. First yoga class is Friday, can't wait...until next time :)

Early Morning Run

Got up early this morning, 5am to be exact, so that I could run before work. I anticipated that it would go roughly, well I was wrong it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Ran 2.19 miles, running speed 5.5, found it mildly more challenging than Sunday's run, but I think that was because I was barely awake, ha! I've been looking at how I'm going to move from training for a 5k to the 1/2 marathon and the training schedule has you running 4 days a week, well I work 3 days out of the week, so I figured I would have to start running before work to get all the running days in one week. I'm also going to start doing yoga, a church close to my house offers yoga classes free of charge and it's yoga without all the spiritual uck that sometimes yoga can have, well the only day of the week I could take yoga would be on my days off, which is another reason why I'm going to start running in the morning before work. Okay, well that's it for now, until next time :

Okay, Let's Try That Again

Well, running this week was a bust. If you've been reading you know how Tuesday went, Friday the hubby slept all day, which I know shouldn't effect my running, however, I didn't get clothes out of our room before he went to bed so it did...Saturday we helped a friend move in our blazing Arizona heat and I just felt too tired from the sun to run. I know excuses, excuses. So I have decided to do week 4 over, so today, Sunday is Week Four, Day 1. Ran 2.17 miles, running speed between 5.5-6.5. I know this is so silly for you avid runners but for me just a beginner it's really exciting! I met my own person goal which was to run the full running required this week, see previous post for my plan, which is to run 1.5 miles of the 2 miles and I did :) Definitely found this run challenging than previous weeks, which is good right? Anyway, this is where I'm at, stay tuned, until next time :p

Catch Up

Hey All, So I'm going to appear a little behind in my running. So Sunday, I went out to the workout room to run and it was locked, so I was unable to run for my third day last week. I did workout on Tuesday night and learned a valuable lesson. I tried to run dehydrated, made myself dizzy and nauseous as well as overheating my body and giving myself a heat rash, oops. Needless to say, I will be extra careful to make sure I'm hydrated before going running again. Despite feeling horrible, I did finish my run on Tuesday night, it is an interesting plan this week: run 1/4 mile, walk 1/8, run 1/2, walk 1/4,run 1/4, walk 1/8, and run 1/2, totaling 2 miles, I did have to slow down the run for 1/4 mile because I didn't feel well, all in all though, I ran 2 miles running speed ranged from 5-5.7, running again on Friday and boy will I make sure I'm hydrated and ready to go, until next time!

2nd Day this Week

Okay, ran tonight, was bummed because, although I was sore, it didn't feel challenging at all, I'll have to push myself harder next time. 1.85 miles, running speed 5.7. We'll see how Sunday goes. I'm really looking forward to next week, should be good with the running plan, more to come, until next time :)

3rd Week, First Day

Alright, first run of the week, I must say that I put it off yesterday, my day off, because I was tired, that was a dumb idea, had to run tonight after an awful and stressful day at work, won't be doing that twice. Anyway, plan this week is to run 90 seconds, walk 90 seconds, run 3 minutes then walk 3 minutes, do two repetitions of this, my running speed 5.7 and 1.75 miles. Oh boy, it took umph to run tonight, got on the treadmill and my fatigue from a long day and aunt flo ran me over. Still did it though, glad I'm building some discipline. Until next time :)

Week 2 Day 3 and 361 days

Alight so, my third run for the week, running speed 5.5, had to decrease it a little because my hip was bothering me, total miles 2 1/4, found it a little challenging, but that is just what I want right? Not that it's getting easier but I do find that I enjoy it, I've found that I have to be really careful not to tell myself, "oh I can skip it today" or else I find my inner couch potato kicking in. 361 days, you may wonder what that means, well I'll tell you, in 361 days my wonderful hubby will be done with residency.I wish I was the perfect residents wife, but I'm not. I'm 100% proud of my husband, he amazes me with his ability to handle all the aspects of residency. Mentally, with how much he studies, physically with the amount of hours he works, and emotionally with his ability to handle stressful situations. I'm exceedingly impressed with his many talents, but I would be lying if I said I did well without him. Which, if you know me at all, you woul

Week 2 Day 2

Okay, same as yesterday, run 90 seconds walk for 2 minutes, alternate for 20 minutes. Ran 1.84 miles, pace was at 5.5, didn't wanna over do it since I ran yesterday and I felt that today so I didn't want to be too hard on my beginning runner legs :) Found it quite satisfying, definitely felt a little challenged but not too much to where I wanted to give up, hopefully this is a sign of things to come :) Until Sunday, my next run :)

Hoping to Run

Okay, well, since I'm pretty sure few people read my blog, I'm going to be brutally honest...The past year, I have tried to become a runner at least three times. Same old story, I get motivated, run three times a week for three weeks, then get discouraged and give up. Well, after doing some research, I have found that I am trying to do too much too soon, which apparently is a common reason many people quit running. My hubby's family has a decent amount of runners and though I don't love running, I like it and I need an activity that will keep me healthy. My research found the running plan mentioned above. Couch to 5K, it's supposed to teach you how to go from being a couch potato, which to call me a couch potato is stretching, to running a full 5K which is 3 miles without stopping, oh how cool it will be to get on the treadmill and run without having to take a break because you feel like your heart is going to pound out of your chest. I do hope, 7 weeks from now tha
