Cloth Diapering

So, I hadn't planned to start cloth diapering yet, however; Being that Maggie is already almost 12 lbs and I'm seeing how much I'm spending on disposables, I decided I would start and so I did, yesterday. The first day went well, then came today. I had a little breakdown today. I only have 4 covers and she had two blowouts first thing this morning back to back, the projectile vomited all over the third so here I am she's wearing the last cover and I'm feeling overwhelmed. 

Side not here, I thought that cloth diapering had gotten so advanced that barring and explosive diaper the covers would be spared. Ha! Not so much! So feeling discouraged, I phoned my sister in law. Two of my sister in laws cloth diaper and I knew they would be the perfect resources and they were. 

First of all, I had to adjust my expectations. Apparently, it's normal when they poop for it to get on the cover, now knowing this I can adjust my expectations and go from there. Also, my SIL said that 4 covers is likely too few and she let me borrow three of hers until I can get more. Thanks Weez! Lastly, both of my SIL said that prefolds need to be washed multiple times to increase absorbency, I did not do this and my prefolds are on their third cycle as I write this.

So, I'm realizing how much more work they are than disposable but at least now I don't feel so overwhelmed. We'll see how this goes.

Homemade Boppy Pillow

Okay, so for those of you who have looked at my registry, I did register for a boppy pillow but I also wanted to make one myself. I used material from an old cotton sheet we don't use anymore and can't help but wonder if store bought is better than homemade when it comes to this. Anywho, I figure if my pillow is just as good as store bought the registry one can always be returned and if my homemade one fails then I have a genuine boppy as well. Here goes nothing.... I printed out the pattern on the computer and had to tape the pattern together to make this. I got the pattern  here Fold your fabric, or sheet, in half, place pattern along folded side and cut two of the pattern out. Pin the two pieces together with RIGHT sides facing each other. Sew around edges, leaving opening for stuffing, I left my opening right in the middle but you can do whatever you want. Second Week, First Run and Spinach/Chicken Calzone

Ran yesterday, plan this week is to run 3 miles first two runs then 3.5 last run of the week. Nothing too interesting, ran 3 miles, went slowly at 5.6, went hiking with the hubby on Saturday with some decent pain in my knees and wanted to take it slow in case I was sore or something. Had pain all down my right side towards the end and after, not sure what to think of that. I have a known hip injury that flares up sometimes on my right side, we'll have to wait and see what happens. Plan for dinner tonight was spinach and chicken calzone. In and effort to be more healthy, I made the calzone crust with whole wheat. Easy recipe from eatingwell.com, whole wheat flour, yeast, H2O, honey and salt. Quickly threw this together then let it rise twice, very simple. For the filling the original recipe calls for cooking the chicken in the frying pain with a little EVOO.
