Maggie 17 Months

I know I know, I'm late. Maggie turned 17 months 6 days ago. I haven't had my normal PC and I've also just forgotten. Well without further ado here it is. Our baby girl is 17 months! Every day, week and month is exciting right now. She does new and adorable stuff all the time. Let's start with how she's progressing.

I began weaning her more than previously and she is ready. She's doing great! She nurses twice per day and eats solid foods better than she ever has. She loves mac and cheese, spaghetti, grilled cheese and her veggie faves. I'm so grateful that eating is not much of a fight anymore. She's drinking more water and milk as well. So great! At the beginning of the month I also completely night weaned her and God has been in this the whole time. She woke up once a night for the first three nights and now she sleeps through. Every night. If she does awaken she is content to just be held and no longer asks to nurse. This season is slightly challenging for me as mom because I adore our nursing relationship but we also would like to give her a sibling. So... something's got to give.

I hope someday to get some video of our little chatterbox. She's talks so much and all the time. Her face is irresistible when she points and says that and then she says please with the sign language. She also says amen after we pray. It is absolutely precious. She also says turtle and yellow with great annunciation. She can say apple, banana, broccoli, and pretty much anything else she just repeats that we say.

We have entered some new territory at least for this mommy. She is beginning to have a little defiance and a little small tantrums. I think she is starting the terrible twos a little early. Lord be with this momma and help me to treat our daughter with grace and a gentle spirit through these upcoming challenging months and years. Your prayers would also be appreciated.

Well I could continue to sing praises about our sweet girl. I could talk about her all night and day but I won't.  Enjoy some pics!

Homemade Boppy Pillow

Okay, so for those of you who have looked at my registry, I did register for a boppy pillow but I also wanted to make one myself. I used material from an old cotton sheet we don't use anymore and can't help but wonder if store bought is better than homemade when it comes to this. Anywho, I figure if my pillow is just as good as store bought the registry one can always be returned and if my homemade one fails then I have a genuine boppy as well. Here goes nothing.... I printed out the pattern on the computer and had to tape the pattern together to make this. I got the pattern  here Fold your fabric, or sheet, in half, place pattern along folded side and cut two of the pattern out. Pin the two pieces together with RIGHT sides facing each other. Sew around edges, leaving opening for stuffing, I left my opening right in the middle but you can do whatever you want. My Toxic Life

Oh me oh my, I've been on this real food journey for a while. My ability to feed my family real food is limited to my budget but I do the best I can to feed my family whole organic foods. I'm frequently frightened to see what's in our food. Even feeding my family healthfully. Like say chicken breast instead of chicken nuggets, my chicken has arsenic and the chickens are fed GMO feed? Are you kidding me? Well, thank God for Costco that is where I get my organic meat it's not pasture fed but it's the best I can afford. Recently, I was taking a prenatal vitamin and after I swallowed it I thought, I wonder what the ingredients are, after all I take this so when we conceive again (hopefully) that my folic acid level is healthy and whatnot, well come to find out my vitamins since they aren't organic are full of toxins. Second Week, First Run and Spinach/Chicken Calzone

Ran yesterday, plan this week is to run 3 miles first two runs then 3.5 last run of the week. Nothing too interesting, ran 3 miles, went slowly at 5.6, went hiking with the hubby on Saturday with some decent pain in my knees and wanted to take it slow in case I was sore or something. Had pain all down my right side towards the end and after, not sure what to think of that. I have a known hip injury that flares up sometimes on my right side, we'll have to wait and see what happens. Plan for dinner tonight was spinach and chicken calzone. In and effort to be more healthy, I made the calzone crust with whole wheat. Easy recipe from eatingwell.com, whole wheat flour, yeast, H2O, honey and salt. Quickly threw this together then let it rise twice, very simple. For the filling the original recipe calls for cooking the chicken in the frying pain with a little EVOO. I changed it up a little, I slowly boiled the chicken then shredded the chicken with two forks, cooked onion and garlic
